Petition Urges Record Labels To ‘Stop Degradation Of Black People’

A petition has been circulating that has become very popular. The document created by Kenneth Paulk is making big headlines around the web. The creator is serving notice to Artists and big record companies to end the disrespect of black culture, mostly through black artists. The petition is detail oriented and lists all the “dirty” companies clearly by name.
Time will tell if the petition will make a difference in the music and entertainment industry, but the writer is very direct on his intentions. He claims that companies and artists can stop valuing money over quality of content. Digital Media has definitely been given a new platform to Social Justice. The request may be a big leap of faith, but it might not be such a hard bargain. The mission holds good reason and merit, but will merit be enough? check out the details (below):

“This petition is for our future children and grandchildren. This petition is for our ancestors that sacrificed and died to make things better for us.We have to let our ancestors know that we will not allow our legacy to be destroyed by corporate America, and we will not allow our legacy to be destroyed by a few greedy music artist that value money more than they value their own people.

When you see bad things happening and don’t say anything it will continue forever. Bad things will only stop when good people take a stand against it.

Record companies the rappers are your EMPLOYEES and you would never allow your EMPLOYEES to make songs that disrespect or degrade the Jewish people, and you would never allow your employees to make songs that disrespect Gays, but you allow your employees to make songs that disrespect and degrade black people.

Record companies you make a profit by allowing rappers to call black people n!gger and n!gga in their songs. Record companies you would never allow rappers to make songs that glorify the killing of Jews or Gays, but you allow rappers to make songs that glorify the killing of blacks, and you profit from it.

The negative rappers value money and material things more than they value the betterment of their own people, they don’t even care about the damage that their music is doing to us as a people. We would never allow whites or any other groups to make songs against us, and we shouldn’t allow blacks to do it either.

People will only do what you allow them to do, and as black people we are at fault to a large degree because for the last 20 years we have allowed record companies and rappers to degrade us as a people and get a way with it.

Just like other groups of people would never allowed themselves to be disrespected it’s time for black people to show the world that we love ourselves as well.

We must send a clear message to those that have exploited us and harmed us as a people. The best way is through legal action or class action lawsuit against any record company, record distributor or music artist that continues to put out those kind of songs.

Stevie Wonder has sold over 100 million records and he never called us n!ggers in his songs. He always called us brothers and sisters in his songs.

Black people we gave the world great music, we gave the world Soul music, Jazz and other forms of music. I refused to stand by and watch our great music legacy be trashed and destroyed before the whole world.

99% of rappers are signed to these record companies and distributors below, this petition is against these companies and their rap artist. These are the names of the executives that run these record companies that degrade blacks.”:

Warner Music Group CEO Stephen F Cooper

Author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Discusses Blackness, Feminism, and Sexuality with Zadie Smith

The Conversation between Zadie Smith and Chimamanda Adichie has almost turned into a viral phenomenon. The two Authors sat down for a chat at the Schomburg Center in Harlem, NY. Adichie’s latest work Americanah recently won the National Book Critics Circle Prize for Fiction, She also caused a big stir when an excerpt of her TED talk about Feminism was featured on Beyonce’s latest album. The excerpt which was featured on the track “Flawless” caused some to speculate whether or not Beyonce was up with the feminist cause, or should even be considered a feminist icon. The question may be valid as Beyonce is making headlines for teaming up with Lean In Author Sheryl Sandberg’s ‘Ban Bossy’ campaign. However, Adichie admitted that she wasn’t interested in “policing” anyone’s feminism.

Smith and Adichie discussed various issues ranging from the Representation of Black Women in Media and Magazines, The Importance of Barack Obama’s marriage to Michelle Obama, Race, Feminism, Sexuality, etc. Of course they included they’re latest works and the works of other women Authors. Adichie also defended Beyonce’s use of her TED talk this week on NPR’s Tell Me More, but the talk between the two women alone is most buzz worthy. The discussion coverage from the live event may be a minute, but it’s totally worth it!

Will Gabrielle Douglas Make Time For A Date?

Being a seventeen year old national Olympic superstar gymnast must lead to a very busy life and a hectic schedule. Scroll through your Facebook news feed and you’ll probably see several events and announcements from the star, most recently her plans to attend Gospel artist Martha Munizzi’s Viva La Woman event with her mom. Empowered is most certainly the best way to live. Will Gabby be empowered in all areas? Even love?

Most recently another “superstar” has been vying for Gabby’s attention. YouTube sensation and Honor Graduate Leon Purvis noted for gaining attention from President Obama and hanging out with Justin Bieber is on his second petition for an evening with Gabby.

When Purvis initially asked Gabby to attend his senior prom with him, she “sadly” declined due to a scheduling conflict. Leon is back, more accomplished, and giving it another shot! From the looks of social media it looks like he’s making much headway! Leon got a response from Gabby’s mother promising to “see what she can do”. He also got a lead from Gabby herself on her favorite restaurant.

Since Gabby’s initial rejection, Leon has not failed to do his homework or follow up for her attention. Purvis has seriously looked into the facts to know more about the life and perspective of the girl he admires. He has read Gabrielle’s first book “Grace, Gold, and Glory” along with her latest project “Raising the Bar”. Leon is persistent, he is convincing, has his facts straight, and he’s not giving up anytime soon.

Even with being an all-around Olympic Gold champion, having made history and that oh so killer Nike Commercial, it’s sure Gabby like everyone else could use more good company, which Leon is suitable to provide.

The recent graduate took another shot at landing time with the gymnast he looks up to in his most recent video. Gabby promised to connect with Leon if she reached 800,000 followers on twitter, she still hasn’t reached the goal yet. However, Doug still followed Purvis account back after her moms reply. Hopefully there will be no more scheduling conflicts, and these two superstars can go on a proper date. Leon is anxiously awaiting a reply, but now the world and all of social media want to know as well: Gabby Douglas, “Want to Go on a Date” …with Leon Purvis?

We sure do hope so! Gabrielle tweets at:

Maximize Your Personal Development

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate. – Carl Jung

Most “Millennials” and many close to the generation are being targeted as lazy, but there is power to make a positive difference with the advanced tools and resources in this age, especially in the field of networking and communications. Personal development helps us to realize what we have to offer the world. It gives us a brief estimate of our value and on what exact talents we can place worth on, that can in turn be incorporated into all areas of life and authentic success.

If we want the best out of our lives, it means we should give life the best of ourselves. As William Shakespeare noted:  “This above all: to thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.”  Knowing your authentic self and developing your highest potential is the key behind personal branding and development, it is the essential function that serves our purpose and service to the world.

Consciously achieving your goals means allocating the time to do so. All big problems started as little problems. When left unchecked, simple issues can gradually grow out of proportion. Health is one thing any professional can’t allow to go in the wrong direction. Fitness trainer and healthy lifestyle specialist Derek Caffe will be delivering expert tips on how to fit a healthy lifestyle into your busy life.

Personal development also relies heavily on mental sharpness and acumen. If our perception is limited, the very experience of our life will be too. You can only see the world from your perception, why not make it awesome?!  Your key attributes and your authenticity give life to your personal brand. Master Career Director and Certified Professional Resume Writer Robin Schlinger, is sharing the details and value of incorporating personal branding into professional resumes.

Low self-worth and lack of good communication causes individuals to make bad choices, which leads life into a series of bad experiences. Life is all about communication. How are you relating to everything and everybody else in the world? Self-Investment is the key to increase communication skills and career success.  Entrepreneur and Master Networker Alton Roberts, and Communications Professional Tieler Giles will be sharing various methods and presenting their impactful expertise.

Thinking Like A Cheating Man Is Useless

It’s Apparent that the new genre of “Men Teaching Women How They Think” style of book publishing must be thought of as a growing and effective tool in relationship advice.  After the recent  release of Tyrese Gibson’s and “Rev Run” Simmons’s new collaboration: “Manology: Secrets of Your Man’s Mind Revealed” and the inspirational Juggernaut “Act Like A lady, Think Like A Man  it’s no doubt that women will probably be bombarded with a lot more of these self-proclaimed “insider secrets”… to understanding a man’s mind. While, it’s highly accommodating to have the influence of wise and learned voices contributed to the world’s knowledge, the format is fickle.

Actually the book “Manology “in particular, is a great read! Run’s unique, insightful wisdom mixed with Gibson’s charming wit throughout the book, makes for that awesomely addictive type of read that’s hard to put down. However, as enjoyable and enlightening as these types of books are, they’re still very useless in regards to maintaining a successful romantic relationship with anyone.   Despite all the generalizations or universal expectations we may place on men in this society, the representation of “all men” or even “most” is still irrevocably limited to the concept of the Author. Every dynamic of an Author’s life plays a role in the content they create, and their specific culture definitely has a major impact in it.

Without a doubt American men or men who were primarily raised in America tend to have a common defect that’s really no secret, especially not to a smart woman. Books like these don’t do much more than publicize some men’s choice for infidelity, over monogamy. Airing dirty laundry in chapters titled “Why Men Cheat” or sharing their dirty little “Secrets” just exposes the illusive misguidance of a culture.

Since this problem, excuse me “thought process” is now being published boldly out in the open, it’s best to stop so much writing about it, and start putting strategic solutions into action, like the Authors starting mentor programs for young men for example. However, Infidelity is not exclusively set to men, its rationale can conquer any soul ungrounded from a system of healthy, principle -based living.  Our best thoughts and advice as individuals are not determined by understanding the general truths of the opposite sex; they are derived from where we place our own unique and sacred values as individuals, whether we‘re male or female.

A practice of Vows or even celibacy until marriage is first a commitment to self. Improving ourselves first is the only training ground we have before we get into a relationship with anyone else. Practice makes perfect! A woman is prized through virtue; THIS JUST IN…So is a Man. Men should be taught moral excellence as much as a woman is. It’s ok that it’s MEN like Tyrese, T.D. Jakes, Steve Harvey, and Tyler Perry seem to be the leading voices in content directed toward women, but some of these men have admitted to infidelity themselves.

When it all boils down to it the success of our relationships is based on our values. If you claim to be a man of Faith, or woman of integrity then own it, and owning it is really committing to it.  If spiritual values are compromised to satisfy physical wants then there is already a problem, and NOBODY no matter what sex, wants to voluntarily be in a problematic relationship. Indeed all relationships have problems, but there is one that is filled with complete wholeness.

In the end we all are subject to weakness, or some longing unholy desire. We all make mistakes. We try to impress one another, then we fall short, but the aim is not to please man; it’s to please God. When our ways please the Lord, we make even our enemies live at peace with us. This is the “thinking” that makes love pure and gives us reasoning to resist foolish temptations. Keep Calm and Let Christ’s love adorn you. Committing to sanctity, is committing to empowering ourselves for the best possible relationships, you may like it, but if you absolutely LOVE it, then put a ring on it! A bit of advice for “All my single ladies”…and Gentlemen:  think like God intended.
